Dr Hannah Critchlow, Neuroscientist
Do you think differently to your colleagues? Could that be changed? Dr Hannah Critchlow will share mind-bending insights into ‘collective intelligence’. Hannah will explain how we can better align thinking with colleagues, against the backdrop of increasing use of AI and a growing understanding of cognitive diversity. The session will include a scientific real-time demonstration of how this can work. Hannah is an internationally-acclaimed neuroscientist, broadcaster, author and Fellow at the University of Cambridge. Her book ‘The Science of Fate’ made The Sunday Times Bestseller list. Her most recent book is ‘Joined up Thinking: the science of collective intelligence’ published in 2022.
Chris Lemons, Saturation Diver
How would your perspective change after a near-impossible escape from death? We’re delighted to involve Chris Lemons to share his extraordinary story. Chris is a commercial diver and supervisor with over 18 years’ experience. Despite ‘fail safe’ processes and technology, a ‘black swan’ series of events left him entangled 100m below sea level without oxygen, warmth or means of communication. As his reserve oxygen tank depleted, Chris was faced with the harsh reality that he was unlikely to survive. Remarkably, despite 30 minutes without oxygen and against all odds, he did. Chris will share his conclusions on preparation, drills, and teamwork; what can be planned and handling unprecedented circumstances. He will also share his subsequent personal reflections on the purpose of life, aims and fulfilment.
